The concept for Strides for Heroes was developed over Thanksgiving weekend in 2024 when Gary proposed the idea of starting a nonprofit organization to Shawn and Tracy. The organization will focus on utilizing horse-related activities to support military personnel, veterans, first responders, and their families.
Having grown up with horses at Lippincott’s Farm in Mt. Holly, Gary Lillie personally witnessed the profound healing effects horses can have on people, especially Vietnam veterans. Shawn Reynolds brings invaluable experience from his time in the Air Force, where he developed skills in teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Additionally, Tracy Reynolds has extensive expertise in horse care and equestrian practices, which greatly enriches their collaboration. Together, this partnership effectively combines Shawn’s military background with Tracy’s passion and skills in working with horses. Their combined strengths create a strong foundation for Gary’s vision, making their partnership not only appropriate but exceptionally promising.
We are excited to share that Strides For Heroes is rapidly taking shape as a 501(c)3, thanks to the dedication of our outstanding volunteers. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to these individuals for their time, support, and commitment; we couldn’t do this without you!
