Welcome to Strides For Heroes

We’re honored to offer a serene and supportive sanctuary for active-duty military personnel, veterans, firefighters, police officers, first responders, and their families.

Our Gift to You

Our program is 100% free, made possible by generous donations and support. We believe in providing a peaceful retreat where you can:

  • Escape the stresses of everyday life
  • Connect with horses and like-minded individuals

Our Approach

Our program focuses on gentle horse interactions, allowing you to:

  • Develop a deeper connection with these majestic animals
  • Experience the therapeutic benefits of horse-human interaction
  • Find solace and comfort in a supportive environment

Getting Started

  • Complete & email the necessary paperwork to our office
  • Our team members (Gary, Kimberly, or Tracy) will reach out to schedule an appointment and answer any questions
  • We’ll create a customized lesson plan tailored to your individual needs

What to Expect

During your sessions, you may engage in some of these activities based on your abilities and at the evaluation of your team member:

  • Feeding & haying
  • Turnout (leading horses to and from pastures)
  • Grooming and general care of the horses
  • Groundwork and horse handling
  • Western-style riding (Riding helmets are required and provided, if needed.)
  • Please Note: For working around, handling or horseback riding, you’ll want shoes or boots that provide support, stability, and protection. No open toed-shoes! Footwear should provide ankle support from the stirrup and saddle and offer flexibility and comfort for walking and riding. Low-heeled shoes or boots, with no more that 1″ to 2″ (inches) with a smooth sole.
